Outside imaging creates a paperwork problem before it becomes a clinical problem. When a study arrives from an outside facility, on a disc or through a transfer, often there's no order for it in your EHR or RIS. Until someone creates one, the study can't attach to the patient's record, which creates a blind spot for staff without access to the archive. That forces a technologist or film librarian to hand-key a retroactive order for every outside study, one at a time.
Auto Order Generation removes manual steps. When an external study is received by ImageX, Medicom automatically builds an HL7 v2 message from the study's DICOM metadata and sends it to your EHR or RIS. Your system reads the message and either accepts or creates the retroactive ancillary order (or unsolicited result), and the study lands in the record just like an in-house exam.
